You had a good point when you said that it is nerve wrecking for students to be called for reading aloud in class. I sometimes forget that students feel this way since I do practice on calling my students to read in class. Even though I encourage them not to be afraid or shy but I think I have to keep in mind that they are still nervous about it. I also try to keep in mind that they are not perfect.
Since our discussion last week, I think industrial model has its advantages. As much as we want to tailor our students' curriculum, there has to be a guideline where we can measure their success. As much as I like to modify every student's lesson, I find it almost impossible to do so in a classroom full of kids. I have 3 new students this year and they are all at a different level with my old students. This makes think of the industrial model that we talked about. I'm not going to "one size fits all" model but I'm certainly going to be busy this year.
